Hi everyone! We’re new members here at the Academy and I wondered if anyone has guidance on where we should begin. We haven’t bought any birds yet so the first priority is to learn as much as we can about selecting our Adam and Eve and avoiding bad breeders. Which courses or resources helped you with this the most? I’d love to know! We will be breeding Dorking chickens. Thanks in advance!

I would most recommend starting with the programs and courses in the training library. Start at the top. Read each one thoroughly. Don’t rush to read it all. Reread each one as needed. Take notes on any questions that you feel like aren’t yet. Each new lesson, review those questions and see if you’ve found answers. Keep this process going as you move on to the founders program. Each stage that has related masters calss videos has them on those pages. When you watch those, check out the show notes, and rewatch as much as needed to understand all you can before moving on. Do take time to meditate on each section and allow yourself to absorb it. Rushing through all this information will make it all seem like a blur and you will miss things, and it can feel overwhelming. Do note that you will need to obtain the standard for your breed elsewhere.

Thanks for the guidance! There is a LOT of information on here so taking it in slowly and methodically is a good plan.
