Here is a list of questions that we often get, that will ease your mind about who we are and what we are trying to accomplish at The Breeders Academy.
If there’s a question you may have that’s not on this list, make sure to contact us, and we will address any and all or your concerns.
How do I become a member, and is it difficult to sign up?
It’s actually very easy. Just go to the Home Page, on the upper menu, hover over “Join Us” and click the “Get Started Here” tab. Now select your membership level. This will take you to a registration page, where you will enter your “User Name, Password and Email Address.” Once you have read and accepted the Terms of Service, click on the PayPal button. This will take you to PayPal’s secure checkout page/website, where you will enter your payment information, and set up a members account. Once you complete the sign-up and payment process, you will have instant access to the website.
Can I join anonymously, or incognito?
Yes, you can. If you would like to be a private member of the Academy, just enter a username that is not recognizable by others. Nobody needs to know you are a member, and all information about our members is confidential. We have a number of well-known breeders who are enjoying and learning from the Breeders Academy, and nobody knows who they are.
I’m not sure what type of membership I should apply for?
We have a number of membership levels to choose from. The Master Class gives you access to the entire website and all membership benefits, and is available as a monthly subscription or a yearly subscription. The Apprenticeship Class is a limited access membership. You will have access to the articles and the forums, as well as the members resource page. Also, we have the Spanish Class for those who want to join and learn, but only read Spanish.
Can I upgrade my membership level later?
Yes, absolutely! If you would like to give the Apprenticeship Class a try, as an entry level subscription, but would like to up-grade to the Master Class later down the road, that’s fine. Just contact us, and we will be happy to assist you in completing the process.
I’m interested in becoming a member, but I don’t have a PayPal account.
Not a problem. You do not need to be a PayPal Member to join. When you enter your credit or debit card information, PayPal will create an account for you automatically. PayPal is good, because it is safe and secure, and it’s simple to use.
What types of payment do you accept?
We accept payment with PayPal, Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover credit and debit cards.
I don’t have a credit or debit card – can I pay by check or money order?
We accept a number of payment options, such as Western Union, MoneyGrams, Walmart2Walmart, Personal Checks and Money Orders. Just send payment to: Maximus Troy Publications, PO Box 1551, Ramona, CA 92065-3125. Also, contact us by email (breedersacademy@gmail.com), so that we can help you set up your membership subscription. For Payment by Mail Prices, go to the Home Page footer.
Will my membership cost change over time?
No. Your subscription rate will always remain the same. Once you are signed-up, you are grandfathered-in to that subscription rate for as long as you continue your membership. If you should cancel, and rejoin later down the road, you will be charged at the current subscription rate, at that time. There will come a time when the membership rate will increase, but that will only effect new members. Also, there will come a time when we will need to stop accepting new members. This is so that we can manage the site, and properly serve all our members.
Are there any hidden charges or cost?
No! Although each membership level allows access to specific content, there are no surprises or extra charges. The membership level that you sign up for is a monthly or yearly subscription, and it will never change. However, you always have the choice to upgrade to a higher level, if you wish.
Can I change my User Name and Password?
Once you have set up your User Name, you cannot change it. When signing-up, make sure you are selecting your User Name wisely. However, you can change your Password at any time. We suggest that you choose a password that is 16 to 20 digits long, using uppercase, lower case, numbers and symbols.
What if I want to cancel my membership?
No problem, you can cancel anytime. The process is very simple. You will have a link to the cancellation page on your account page. If, for any reason, you are having difficulties, just let us know, and we will help you with the process, no questions asked.
What benefits do I get as a member?
We included a member’s benefits chart on the “Membership Pricing” page. Each subscription level will have its own set of benefits. We encourage you to checkout this chart. Also, we are constantly improving the site and adding new features. This site will evolve and improve over time.
Do I get complete access to everything right away?
Once you have completed the sign-up and payment process, you will have instant access to your membership level benefits. Take your time and checkout the website, see what the site has to offer, then decide where you would like to start. We will also send you a video that will give you a tour of the website, and how to navigate and use all of its features. What subjects are discussed?
We will discuss many subjects related to breeding, such as, Evolutionary Biology, Genetics, and the Laws of Selective Breeding. We will discuss how to recognize defects and show you how to eliminate them. And, we will discuss the best used selection and breeding methods that will help you to advance your knowledge and skills as a breeder, and improve the quality of your fowl. Also, we will discuss how to improve your fowl’s resistance to disease. This is accomplished through proven, time tested breeding programs, specialty courses and lesson plans. We also provide downloadable pdf study guides and video tutorials. Make sure to check out our list of programs and courses located on the upper menu and dropdown menus.
Will there be new material added?
Absolutely! We will be adding new material on a regular basis, throughout the website. We know that our members are visiting the site at different times, daily, weekly, and monthly. It is our goal to make sure all our members are getting the information they need most, as they need it.
How is this information presented?
All information posted as “Articles” are presented in small, easy to bite digestible chunks, in a way that will incrementally advance your knowledge and improve your skills as a breeder. Once we have posted all relevant information as articles, we will repost this information on the “Programs and Courses” page in its entirety, and will always be available for easy reference. Each program and course will include all relevant pictures, illustrations and graphs, as well as all PDF Study Guides and Video Tutorials.
What if the answers I need are not presently on the website?
If we don’t have the information you are looking for already on the website, let us know, and we will make sure you are getting the information that you need and want most.
Can I ask questions?
Yes, always! As a member, you can ask your questions in the “Members Forum.” Ask what you like, and we will get back to you as soon as possible. If you need to ask a question that is private or of a sensitive nature, please email us at breedersacademy@gmail.com
Do you offer one on one coaching?
Yes, however, due to my limited time, this featured benefit is only available for our Master Class Members. I usually handle all one on one coaching on the phone. You can email me your picture, videos, and relevant files/records, and we will discuss everything on the phone. I will help you select your breeders, and design a breeding program that is best for you.
Can I add and share pictures?
Yes, as a member, you can share pictures on the Members Forums and Private Groups pages.
How is your information different than what is available on the internet?
Some information can be found on the internet, but the information is usually vague, or it is difficult to put into practice. Many times, it comes from those who don’t understand how it works, or why you should do it.
My information comes from more than 30 years of research, studying the principles and practices of the best breeders, and from 45 years of practical experience. I have a background in Evolutionary Biology and Genetics, and have an extensive knowledge and experience in the areas of selective breeding. I have combined many years of research, and practical experience, as well as knowledge gained from great mentors, and put these methods into practice, using what worked, and discarding what didn’t work. And then measured and documented the results.
As I gained more knowledge and experience, I expanded my understanding of the art of selective breeding, and began to see even greater results. I then created programs that improved the quality of my fowl, which allowed me to maintain these lines for many years, without the use of outside blood.
Eventually, I would share this information with other breeders. The results were amazing. It was then that I realized the importance of these programs, and the need for a place to share them.
How will your knowledge and this website benefit me?
In 2011, I wrote a book called the “Gamefowl Breeders Manual,” which was a great success. Throughout the years I have also written for numerous publications, such as The Gamecock Magazine, the Poultry Press, and many others throughout the world. And became an instructor for the Sustainable Poultry Network, where I traveled to various places throughout the United States giving seminars to breeders like you.
Writing and speaking was very fulfilling, but I still felt limited in the way I wanted to present this material. That is why I created this website, so that breeders like you, would have a place where they can learn new methods and techniques that would improve and advance the quality of their fowl, and would help to preserve our breeds and strains for future generations.
With this website, I am able to present this material in multiple ways, such as text and pdf study guides, video tutorials and training videos, relevant pictures and illustrations, as well as audio mp3’s. I’m also able to better provide my members the personal attention that they need most. No longer will you feel confused or lost.
Can I use multiple devices, such as my iPod or phone?
Yes, this is a “Mobile Responsive” website, which means, not only can you use your computer or laptop, you can use your iPad and phone. As long as you have access to an internet connection, or Wi-Fi, you are good to go. The website will automatically adjust to your screen size.
How will I know if this site is right for me?
Let me ask you this – Are you interested in gaining more knowledge in the areas of selective breeding? Are you interested in improving your skills as a breeder? Does your fowl need improvement, and are you interested in making them better? If you say yes to any of these question, then I would say yes, this site is for you!
In the months and years to come, I will provide information in all areas of selective breeding. In time, you will have a greater understanding of how selective breeding works, and you will have breeding programs that will guide you step-by-step how to improve the quality of your fowl, and to maintain them for years to come.
I’m worried that I won’t have time to learn from this site?
The information on this website can be read at any time. Many visit this site on a daily basis, but once a week or once a month is fine too. Even if you learn one good idea a month, I’m confident the information would more than pay for your subscription. If you feel that you don’t have time, or you are not getting the value of your subscription, then you can cancel anytime.
